Ahhh Lifespan Development class, you make my wheels turn?
we have a woman in our class from Bulgaria, it is nice to have a real life account of what nationalized medicine is like. According to her a doctor had a certain number of referrals that he/she could give out and if you didn’t get one you would have to wait. However, you could also pay privately, which she said was less expensive than what people pay here in the States. I was waiting for the “buzzword” Socialist to come up because someone had already incorrectly used the term Communist when they were talking about something that was Fascist but anyhow, I was waiting like a tiger so I could pounce. Pretty much because people who use the word Socialist have no fucking clue what the word really means. They think that because some pundit said it it must be bad. People need to get educated. Socialism is an ECONOMIC system. IT IS NOT A POLITICAL SYSTEM!!! You can have a democracy based on Socialism, many European countries do, and they are better off for it. Sure slow steady growth may not attract some but they don’t end up with retractions like we have seen. The American population sometimes just seems so utterly stupid. I wish we could blackout the idiot box for just a week and see what we could teach people. As a future nurse, we are pushed to do research, well that is one study I’d like to participate in.
